One of my all time favorite project, Enzo Mari’s Autoprogattazione. An exhibition on self made furniture in 1974, accompanying the exhibition was a set of schematics for making simple furniture using standardized wood planks and nails. Anyone ‘apart from factories and traders’ was free to make the furniture, or to make varations on it, and send him a picture. More information on Autoprogattazione can be found here.

2009 saw a revisit of Autoprogettazione at the AA, which included Mari-inspired furnitures by AA students and designers. The man himself even showed up for a lecture. One thing I particularly likes was this beautiful Lampada a Stelo by Kueng Caputoe, the instruction for it can be found in the AA catalogue.

I really wanted to make it but I knew I would have space for it. So I decided to make myself a inspired desk lamp version instead. This is the prototype of it, I was using some spare wood so the proportion is a bit off. Will fix that when I have time.
